Congratulations on the purchase of your new home! Now it’s time to get the moving process started so that your move is quick and seamless. The most efficient way to move is to only bring with you the items that you need and use. Eliminating clutter will help you prioritize and become more organized as you start fresh in your new home. Here are five items to ditch before you move.

Make three piles: keep, toss and donate. Go through each piece of clothing you have and organize it into piles to ensure you are only moving essential pieces of clothing and not lugging old, unworn clothing to your new home. Another easy trick to help you part ways with old clothing is to hang up your clothing and face the hangers inward. After a month or two, get rid of the clothing on hangers that are still facing inward, as this means you don't wear it enough.
Cosmetics and Toiletries

Cosmetics and toiletries don’t last forever, so before you make your big move, get rid of old and expired bathroom products you’ve collected over the years. Toss nail polish, skin creams, sunscreens, deodorant and even soap if they are old or expired. The less you cart to your new home, the faster your move will be.

Go through those piles of paperwork and documents you have stored away. Set aside only documents that you need, like bank statements and tax records and get rid of everything that is just taking up space. Create a filing system to keep your documents organized and easy to locate.

Somehow there always seems to be a pile of cords that haven’t been used in years in everyone’s home. Throw away old electronics and cords that you don’t use or are tangled and just taking up space. Make sure to also get rid of old electronics like game systems and DVD players that you no longer use or are outdated.
Expired Non-Perishables

Take a look at your pantry and check your canned foods and other food items that are non-perishable. Throw out what is expired or items that you’ve had in your pantry for a while. There is no use in moving food that you won’t eat and crowding your new pantry.
What other must-ditch items can you think of to throw away before moving?
